Introduction
We hope you all had a great start into 2022 and a fruitful January. We have been hard at work to further improve the Kalao experience for you. It is a strong part of our mission to make sure the Kalao community stays informed of everything that is happening.
It has been a relentless four weeks, combined with partnerships and amazing progress. NFTs have remained steadfast over the holiday season and it has shown that NFT communities are die hard in their efforts to be part of something they enjoy. Let’s take a look at what Kalao has been doing to accent this passion for NFTs.
Kicking off the New Year Strong
In the month of January, partnerships, products updates and events never slowed down. We have had a magnificent month and one of the major highlights has to be the staking feature for KLO! We published a thread on our social media for the arrival of KLO staking starting January 5th. You can now stake directly on the Kalao website At the time of writing, close to 40% of the circulating supply is being staked with stakers earning 16% APR in KLO.
Staking will also grant access to exclusive airdrops, advanced features in Kalao Vision, governance rights and additional rewards.
In addition to launching our staking program, we shared a major inside look of the Kalao Citadel. The Kalao Citadel is our immersive NFT experience and the first community hub where Kalao users can interact on a level never before seen. We shared a lot of info about the Citadel environment, games, events, avatars and much more in a recent article.
Growth From All Sides
Although staking benefits and the sneak peek of the Kalao Citadel are major announcements, those weren’t the only things that made the highlight reel for the month of January. Among many of events and partnerships we shared, we witnessed stellar activity from all parts of the Kalao ecosystem:
- Our partnership with Particle on the “Love is in the Air” Banksy event. A collection of 100 particles will be made available only for whitelisted KLO stakers. The sale will happen right after the minting event sells out on Particle side and we’ll be setting a price in $KLO tokens that will make sense to the community.
- The AVAX Peng Family launched on Kalao Go and sold out in only 8 minutes! The penguins are part of Avaxpeng, a 2D metaverse platform that allows users to connect to Avax native dApps.
- Kalao also hosted a partnership with Crypto Dickheads, a new NFT collection of 5555 PFPs which sold out within 11 minutes.
We’ve also been very active in enriching our products and improving the user experience
- Auto-completion search
- Optimization of the “My NFTs” page
- State-of-the-art “Explore” page
- Enabling users to refresh NFT metadata
- Simplified filters
- Revamp of the homepage to promote and showcase top collections and sellers
Development of The Citadel is moving forward as planned. We are on track to deliver a fully immersive virtual experience by the end of Q1. Users will be able to customize their avatar, access Avalanche dapps as well as their favorite NFT galleries, interact with other users via voice or text messaging and get rewarded for their activities.
The Citadel experience will be enriched with additional activities, games and live events shortly after launch.
Coming Next
The team is working full speed on enhancing and revamping the experience on our marketplace.
Also, our stakers are very important to the Kalao ecosystem. We’re therefore working on a new reward mechanism that will be proposed to the DAO in the coming days.
On the Metaverse side, we’ll start announcing major Avalanche partners who will own a shop in The Citadel and we’ll be clarifying the process of the shop and slot sale. Stay tuned!
It’s been quite the month and we have much more in store for the future. Part of the mission and vision of Kalao is to create an ultimate NFT experience and this means consistent progress in setting goals and achieving them. We made great strides this month with the opening of staking and the new look at what Kalao Citadel will bring. Combined with our partnerships and the NFT projects that have sold out in record times, we are on a path to making a great 2022 already.
